Qatar Passport Photo Requirements

Qatari passport photo standard (QA_passport in our verified spec DB).

  • Size: 38×48mm
  • Background: BLUE — rare worldwide; most countries require white
  • Expression: neutral, mouth closed, eyes open (standard biometric practice)
  • Recency: taken within the last 6 months (standard biometric practice — confirm with the issuing authority)
  • Editing: not specified in our verified DB entry — submit an unedited original to be safe

⚠️ The Background Is Blue, Not White

Qatar is one of the very few countries whose passport photo uses a blue background. A white-background photo — the default almost everywhere else — will be rejected. Double-check the required shade of blue with the Qatari issuing authority before printing.

Common Rejection Reasons

  • Wrong background colour — must be blue, not white
  • Wrong size — must be exactly 38×48mm
  • Background has shadows or is the wrong shade of blue
  • Heavily edited or filtered photo
  • Photo older than 6 months
  • Non-neutral expression or tilted head
