Official Requirements (Same as a Standard US Visa)
C1/D crew visas follow the standard nonimmigrant (DS-160) visa photo rules — no crew-specific deviation exists.

- Digital (DS-160 upload): square JPEG, 600×600 to 1200×1200px, ≤240KB, 24-bit sRGB, compression ≤20:1
- Head height: 1 – 1⅜ inches (22–35mm) — 50–69% of the frame height; eye height per the State Dept composition template
- Background: plain white or off-white
- Recency: taken within the last 6 months
- Glasses: banned since November 2016, except documented medical need
- Headphones and wireless devices: prohibited
- Editing: photos must not be digitally enhanced or altered to change your appearance — the State Dept photo tool is for cropping only
