Official K-ETA Photo Spec

  • Digital-only: maximum 700px per side (700×700px)
  • File: ≤100KB, JPG/PNG only — RAW files are rejected; colour
  • Face: at least 75% visible, eyes open, looking at the camera
  • No hats, scarves or sunglasses; no patterned clothing
  • Background: not officially specified — the guidance only warns against overly colorful backgrounds and unclear images
  • Passport bio-page scan (separate upload): JPG ≤300KB
  • The K-ETA mobile app auto-adjusts photo size and crop on upload

⚠️ The 35×45mm Claim Is Wrong

K-ETA has no millimetre dimension, no recency rule and no explicit white-background rule in the official text. The 35×45mm figure seen on third-party photo sites is a reinterpretation of the South Korea VISA photo spec — a different document — not a K-ETA requirement. K-ETA is digital-only: 700×700px, ≤100KB.

Editing & the Mobile App

There is no explicit editing prohibition in the official guidance, and the K-ETA app auto-adjusts size and crop on upload — but approval still depends on a clear, natural image, so upload an unfiltered original. Our tool is handy for checking framing and file size: preview free, HD download $1, 300-DPI print sheet $2.

Common Rejection Reasons

  • File over 100KB or larger than 700×700px
  • RAW or HEIC instead of JPG/PNG
  • Face less than 75% visible
  • Hats, scarves or sunglasses
  • Patterned clothing
  • Unclear image or overly colorful background
  • Preparing a printed 35×45mm photo for a digital-only application

FAQ

Is the K-ETA photo 35×45mm?

What file format and size does K-ETA accept?
JPG or PNG only, ≤100KB, colour, max 700px per side. RAW files are rejected. The passport bio-page scan is a separate JPG upload of ≤300KB.
What background does K-ETA require?
The official guidance does not specify a background colour — it only warns against overly colorful backgrounds and unclear images. A plain light background is the safe choice.
